Hi guys and girls, hoping somebody can help me.

I have a Sony VGN-FW56E which is 22 months old. The battery only holds a 100% charge for 15 mins. I bought it from a Sony Centre but do not feel up for a fight with them as it is probably marginal as a "consumable".
I just want to find a replacement battery.
I contacted my Sony Centre and they could only suggest Sony themselves but I did not fancy paying the £179!!
Googling comes up with lots of places around the £50 mark but they all seem to state that the battery comes with a CD to alter settings on the laptop, this all seems a bit dodgy to me!

Can anybody recommend a reputable supplier of batteries at a decent price?

Do yourself a favour and buy the Sony recommended models.

Anything else is a waste of your time and also potentially crippling to your notebook system and the time and care you've spent on setting up exactly as you like it.

Sure £179 is a lot - but consider that that is only around £0.27 per day (for the next 22 months assuming the same usage pattern).

To make your next Sony battery last longer: remove them from your plugged in system when they're ~40% charged (be sure to charge them fully before you need to use them unplugged - yeah a pain, but for £179 savings every two years something that I do on my Sony's).

    Good luck.
