Hi
With Santa Rosa just out and a few other techs like Turbo Memory, I was just wandering if anyone knows what is just beyond/what is to come? (Anything - Wireless, Memory-DDR3, Processors, Laptops....)
Anyway, to get the ball rolling, I hearded that Intel is devolping another new processor called, Penryn, Nehalem, Montevina. I think it is Penryn out late 07/early 08. And DDR3 memory sometime a year from now.
Any more info/news is welcome!!![]()

hopefully fuel cell batteries which work from (liquid) methanol

OLED screens replacing TFT screens as soon as OLED life is sorted out
A new type of software BIOS which is instant on computing (?) -

I am guessing that as soon as AMD or Intel get quad core to the laptop, the other will come out with and 8 way laptop. I am more excited about the solidstate drives. These are here now. But cost about $15 per gig. The much vaunted hybrid drives are nowhere to be seen. More likely we will skip hybrids and just go to SSDs or maybe a dual drive setup if the SSD drives are small enough.
It's also looking like the keyboardless ultraportables are gonna take over. I mean, aside from the gamers, audio geeks (like me) and a few others, who really needs a fully decked out laptop? A lot of folks just surf the web and watch videos with theirs. And if a device can do that as well for less and fit in your pocket? -

If you want some really cool tech that will be great for notebooks.
Its called wi-tricity. aka: wireless electricity.
Then your notebook will be 100% cord free in your house and it will charge on its own, will be good for cell phones and other things that use batteries aswell.
The guy leading the research right now said they have it up to the point where it could be used for laptops and cellphones.
Yep this is not BS its real, its wireless electricity as it no cord/wires and there is a transfer of energy wich can run/charge your stuff. -

They did the lightbulb back in 2005 if I recall correctly.
Even still a 60w lightbulb... 60w is more than enought to charge a cell phone, and probably enough to run a notebook.
A desktop only sucks like 300w from the wall, so a notebook should be much less. -
The article is from this June but that doesn't necessarily mean thats when the experiment took place. -
Here are some links to what I think to what you are talking about..... i think

Only thing is, in England the public are still saying WiFi, Bluetooth and cell phones are bad..... now and try 2 explain to them that wireless power isn't bad!!!! -
That's an interesting read.
-
Actually what i think about wireless Energy is that it might not be efficient. If you wall plug it, you onli do that when u need energy. When you wireless it, it is on nearly 24/7... this might not be environmentally good.

Opps... i always forgot what i should have type. I meant the energy is spreaded wide like waves, hence any waves tat are not converted into energy are wasted.

Uhh Nikola Tesla was doing wireless electricity over a hundred years ago. He also pretty much laid the foundations of the AC we use today. Including the 3 phase system. Look it up. Effing genius.
PS dont Teslas patents still apply? -
-
yeah, I was being facetious. Though some monopoly interests have been able to maintain patents for pretty long, 80+ years is beyond the pale.

Nice to see you out and about. When I meet someone who says Tesla who? I turn and run! I can't reinvent the wheel and I can not teach a rock to walk on 2 legs! So be it! -
lol, have those curious folks figured out the reality about this so-called "Life" game yet?
i'm glad no-one asked for its retail price .. LOL -
Although is there a rough estimate, i would imagine it is one of those subscription games, along with a pretty hefty price for that nifty full body controller. Whats your best guess, $300-$400 for game/controller and like $25 a month?
Again, is the working title IRL right now? Because my friends always tell me they are going to the movies or out IRL, but i don't know what they mean!!!
Soon coming technology..
