Im debating to myself whether i should purchase this>
How much of an increase compared to integrated on a laptop?
or maybe i should just get a good pair of speakers?
What are good pairs of 2.1 speakers?

    Thank you.

    Can you rephrase this question?

It is not clear if your question is about sound cards or speakers. The sound card is responsible for sending signals to your speakers to be interpreted and then played as sound. USB speakers in particular come with their own integrated sound cards.

Also, what is "how much of an increase" referring to? If it is sound quality, then that's subjective. If it is price, then I'd say the cost for the Audigy PCMCIA card is about the same as for a good pair of speakers.

If you are getting a notebook with a PCMCIA slot, get the Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS Card for 5.1/7.1 surround sound. It will also provide marginally better music quality - depending on the music you listen to.

As far as speakers, investing in a good 2.1 pair for music is essential. If you spend time mostly gaming and/or watching movies, then looking into a 5.1/7.1 set (assuming you have space) is a good idea.

It depends on if you like to always use headphones. The creative card will only work through headphones or external speakers; your integrated speakers will not work. The card wasn't going to make them sound better even if the speakers would work though. If you don't want to have to use headphones all the time then get some speakers and upgrade the card later.
