The Audigy HD is a sound card that comes with a lot of Dell notebooks.
Dell likes to say that it gives you "Ultra-Realistic Surround Sound"
Are their claims true? Does it actually give you high quality sound? Is it much better than the standard Integrated High Definition Audio?
I know that there are a lot of Dell owners in the forum. Perhaps someone could give their feedback.
Thanks

Spend your money on parts that make a difference like RAM or HDD. Upgrading to a Hitachi 7k200 will make it feel like a whole new laptop. -

What dell offers as Audigy HD isn't a sound card. It's just software, that uses your integrated sound card. Not worth the money.

indeed. It's just software. if it was hardware, that would've been different. It's like adding $30 more for a software that virtually improves your RAM by virtually adding another 1gb
that X-fi notebook card is the best sound card from Creative Labs. The only downfall though is that it does not support ASIO nor is it hardware accelerated. I was thinking about getting one but the ASIO is something I need. -

Forget about getting the "Audigy HD" crap as noted - it's a ripoff. You're paying for a small piece of software that takes up a lot of resources.
There really is no point to getting a sound card with a Vista machine because Vista doesn't have DirectSound support. The sound processing is done by the CPU.
