My Toshiba Satellite A210 has begun making strange static noises and blurring sounds during play. I have external speakers plugged in through the headphone jack and USB port and even while they are plugged in (or any headphones etc) the laptop speakers still make sound, a blurred an static version of what should be playing, even at low volumes, and the volume of the static increases at higher volume. Please help me fix this, any idea will do.

    Thank you.

It sounds like you are picking up interference from something close by.
Is your laptop in the same general area of the house it has always been in?

I ask this because some appliances may run at the same frequencies, causing constructive or destructive interference.
For example, if you use your laptop in your room, and their are no electronics around you should not have any interference. But when you start having appliances like crt based tv's, old refrigerators and subwoofers, you may start having problems. This is because older electronics are not sealed as well as they are today. The appliances mentioned are just a few examples of machines with electromagnet based motors/systems. The electromagnetic field from them could be causing the problem.
To test, bring you laptop outside and play the same music, and see if it happens again.
If it doesnt, something in your room/house is causing interference. Since it just started happening, you can start by figuring out what is causing the problem by how recent a new machine was brought into the house.

If your problem still occurs, I would recommend uninstalling your audio driver an reinstalling it. You can do this through the add/remove programs in the control panel.
Toshiba should have the audio drivers posted online, but if they do not, the driver will be on one of the cd's which came with your notebook.
