Hi everyone,
just now, i have encountered an issue, the sound of my M17x is not working, it says "No speakers or headphones are plugged in", now let me clarify-- i have tried every headphones and speakers i can get, its still not working. Besides, the laptop's own speaker is not working either.
The driver seems working properly, no issues were detected, i ran troubleshooter in windows, and no issues were dectected either. It just says there are no earphones plugged in.
I havent made any changes recently to the laptop, and even 2 hours ago the sound is still working perfectly. I went to sleep for two hours and turned off the computer, when i woke up and turned it back on, it has been like this.
I have searched on google, and microsoft says that this is because that the integrated sound card is not enable and says if i enter BIOS and enable it everything will be fine. This might be true, because i think my current audio card is not the integrated one, it is AMD High Definition, i suppose it comes with the video card (7970m)
however when i entered BIOS and i cannot find this "enabling integrated audio card" feature, it is nowhere to be found
on the first page it just tells me if i am using my integrated video card or the discrete one, which i have disabled the integrated Intel video card by fn+f7 (i wonder if it has anything to do with this? but i disabled it like 2 weeks ago, it cant be can it?)
I am desperate now, can you help me.?![]()

Go to AMD and look for the latest drivers for you integrated sound device and uninstall your old device and reinstall the new one. And another test is do you get any kinda sounds at all from the speakers? And are you sure your speakers didn't go out themselves causing the loss in sounds? Also it would say "no headphone plugged" as it didn't detect it. But if you tried to play through the laptop speakers and get no sounds it possible you have a hardware problem??

have you tried to change the volume? sometimes it may be the problem

Did you check your device manager? Is the sound-card being recognized? Did you try to have windows update the driver itself? Are you sure your sound settings hasn't been messed with? Did you install anything "two hours ago"? Has your laptop been overheating?
Usually if you the device is being recognized, the drivers seem to be correct, etc. etc. the sound card might be faulty. Do you have warranty? You could try to get it replaced by a technician.
Sound issues are always annoying, especially when you have no idea why it stopped working... -
