A friend recommended this forum to me. so lets give this a shot. hah.

So I have the gigabyte ep45-ud3r mother board, which on default has the ports for sound.I've been connecting my logitech z5500's speaker system(5.1) to these ports via orange/black/green cables and for some reason the surround sound isn't working right on the setting "6 channel direct" via my speaker's dock. On the setting 6-channel direct, the center speaker does not play any sound, but nothing is wrong with the center speaker  . Would buying a separate sound card fix this problem? thanks for any input!

Have you tried enabling the surround sound in the audio settings?
