Just took dropped 2 GB of RAM (DDR 333MHz PC 2700 2x1GB) into my HP 4000(PC2700 DDR 333 PC2700 2,512KB chips came with it two years ago).
Chipset is Intel i915GMS/i910GML
Under the CPU-Z "Memory" tab, programs says it is reading 2GB fine.
The CPU-Z program . . . ran great . . . but I am confused on the reading under the "Memory" tab of "Frequency 166.3". Does than mean I am not running 333MHz?
I am just a tad . . . no, a whole lot confused!:confused2:
Under the CPU-Z tab "CPU" says "Bus SPeed: 133 MHz" and "Rated FSB: 532.2"
Help me to interpret! Wondering if I have done the right thing.

I'm confused about the numbers you gave to me, but CPU-Z will report the RAM bus speed. As RAM is DDR (Double data rate), the RAM bus speed is multiplied by 2 to give the "total" RAM speed.
The Rated FSB means the CPU BUS clock multiplied by 4.
The FSB is the bus that connects the CPU to the northbridge, which connects to the RAM, and GPU, and possibly other important components. -
Also under the CPU-Z tab "Memory" it says "Frequency: 133MHz.)
So then the RAM bus speed according to the CPU-Z report I am reading must then be 266Mhz (2x133)? -
multiply your bus speed by the multiplier and that gives you your cpu speed
frequency x2 for dual channel -
Thanks to both Lil Mayz and Allan . . .
So then the RAM bus speed according to the CPU-Z report I am reading must then be 266Mhz (2x133)?
So buying the DDR PC 2700 333MHz (2x1GB) memory must be maxing out my memory related to my CPU? -
2gb of ram should be enough for most people

Close but no cigar.
DDR stands for double data rate, you take the given FSB and multiply it by 2. To get the true speed of the ram.
Dual channel is a different thing all together and has no effect on speed or latency its only a way to get extra bandwidth. -

OK there are some inaccuracies in this thread so I will post and hopefully clear everything up . . . .
