I'm about to replace a malfunctioning 160 GB 5400 hard drive, and I'm trying to decide between buying a 120 GB 7200 or another 160/5400. If they're both from the same brand/product line (I'm leaning toward Seagate Momentus) how can I expect them to compare in everyday perrformance?

Also, how noticable of an improvement compared to my current or the 120/7200 might I expect to see if I were to shell out for a 160/7200?

Here is a link to compare. I have 160/5400 and fine but if price is not too much 7200 would be nice! On spindle speed alone 7200 is about 25% faster than 5400.

The 120GB 7200RPM as mentioned is definitely noticeably faster.

Well, I think I'll go with that setup then. But what's everyone's stance on makers? I was leaning toward Seagate mainly because of their 5yr warranties, but I've seen some good deals on Fujitsus and heard some good things about Hitachis.

The Hitatchi is really good performance wise, I'd go with it.
