Anyway, I basically have no way of fixing the motherboard's power issue, since I cannot even find the power control chip. If someone can offer help with that, great. Otherwise:
Does anyone know of a way to charge the battery or adapt a power output to the battery contacts? It is this working laptop's last chance of life.

Ok firstly, you could have ruined any number of things with what you say you did in that other thread.
Secondly, how did you solder onto the "neighboring" capacitor? Caps are almost always SMDs on mobos. Also, without a layout, how did you know which side of the cap you were soldering onto or even if it was the right cap, for that matter?
Third, if your mobo LDO is not working, why would charging your battery help? -
1) Not concerned, useless to me if I can't get it to work anyway.
2) Was mostly a guess, though the jack is on a thin off shoot from the rest of the mobo with capacitors in between it and the rest of the board.
3) As I already said.. works with a battery.
Kinda given up trying to charge the battery outside the laptop since it is a bit risky.
I am seeing if there is a way to provide battery power (11, 7 and 5v I think) to the motherboard's contacts directly so although it would have no portability, it would work at least. -
I'd test the charger (power adapter) to make sure it works with a multimeter. Test it under load also. Try to operate it on AC power without the battery. If you know the battery is done (if you remember the battery wear level how much it was last time the laptop was running) pull it out of the laptop. Remove all power supplies to laptop and re-seat RAM.
