I was thinking of getting a Samsung, OCZ, or G-Skill 32GB SATAII SLC SSD. I wanted to know if would be enough space to be as my primary drive? I was going to install Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64bit, MS Word and Excel 2007, games like Flight Simulator, WOW, and upcoming Star Craft 2, yahoo messenger, dvd burning program, and other small programs. I do have a opportunity to purchase a Intel X25M 80GB for $250 but I am wary about how it is a MLC SSD and if it will operate the Vista program without any issue on my laptop. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Where can you get an Intel X25M for $250?

    I'll buy it!

I took the Intel learn to earn points program and one of things offered was the Intel X25M 80GB for $250. But I haven't heard too much about besides it being real fast. I need to know if there would be any conflict with running Vista and it being my primary drive or would it be better to stick with the SLC SSD.

must be a pricing error cuz the intel 80gb is like 600+ and the one i bought 32gb version was 800+ when i got it. so if it is for 250 then hook me up lolz

No its $250, my friend and I confirmed and its limit to 1. So if Vista 64 works fine on it without any conflicts then I would buy it. If not my friend has dibs on it.

The Intel SSD is the fatest SSD out now, and doesn't suffer from problems that plague other SSDs. I would easily pay $500 for one.

At that price you should have already placed your order.

As Charr said it's the best drive out there at the min.

So I shouldn't worry about Vista64 holding up while its writing or accessing certain files?

Nope, Intel have designed their own controller which overcomes the initial problems that other MLC controllers suffered.

Finally a MLC SSD drive that is large enough, fast enough, and able to run Vista 64 without any huge problems.
