Took out some RAM from one laptop to add to another and I noticed the sticker on my RAM was sticking up in the corner.I don't know if it matters but its Crucial DDR3 1333.
So it got me thinking are these stickers there for a reason besides identifying what the specs are and what type it is.
So my question is if I peeled the stickers completely off the RAM would it run cooler?
Maybe I should just let it be....
    Opinions?

No it wont. Sometimes it will void your warranty though.

So I would let it be :)

If the sticker is covering a ram chip I would take it off (unless you care about warranty).

Unless it says something about warranty I would not worry so much. Also what warranty are we worried about? What notebook maker does not allow RAM upgrade? As such even though it won't, would be RAM voiding at best.

As kind of said it really does not matter. A sticker lacks the thermal conductive characteristics to be of much issue. If confused consider reaching in a 400F oven to move a tray? Yea no big deal no burn from the air. Now consider putting that same arm in 200F water? Yea you can see which is going to burn your flesh. The water, sticker/paper is not much more conductive than air. As such not really of much issue either way.

    I myself would remove.

The warranty that might be affected is the RAM itself. It might void it and if anything happens to your memory, you will be unable to exchange it (all the major companies give lifetime warranty, so why tamper with a stupid sticker).

RAM doesn't usually get that hot anyway, so I really wouldn't bother. It's only there to idnetify it but I can tell you for certain that if you took it off you'd never know the difference.

Then why don't you pull off the sticker and send it back to the manufacturer for RMA. I've had first hand experience with this, but hey, you sound like you've done it many times and know for a fact that I'm wrong...

I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic? The warranty they're talking about isn't for the entire notebook, it's for the RAM stick that the sticker is on. This can be mildly important because many RAM sticks come with a lifetime warranty.

Seriously, if manufacturers have an excuse not to give you a replacement then they'll use it, it simply means they lose less money, and money is business, it's pretty much all they're there for. That's why they have all these conditions for the warrenty.
