Hello,
Specs of my new laptop are in my signature. Ofcourse the big thing still missing is an SSD, the current 5400rpm hdd is kind of slow especialy comming from a machine who had an SSD. I was thinking of using the empty m2 SATA slot and keeping my HDD. But after reading up on some threads im not so sure anymore. There seem to be a lot of heat issues with those m2's. Is that with all of them or only those Samsung drives?
So im debating against replacing my HDD with an SSD or just adding in an M2 and keeping my HDD. The last option would ofcourse mean a lot more storage.
any advise would be apreciated!

You can always get a 1TB hybrid drive, or SSHD as Seagate is calling them now. After a couple of days your OS boot files and most accessed apps will get thrown into the NAND so it should behave like an SSD while still having plenty of storage. Unfortunately the new models are 5400 rpm for the mechanical portion, but based on benchmarks they are still pretty fast. If you want a fast purely mechanical drive, the HGST 7K1000 that Tom suggested is the fastest available for notebooks right now.

The thing is you need to nail a budget down and get something accordingly... In your case, if you have around £250, get the Sandisk Extreme Pro 960GB SSD... There will be no need to get anything else... -
I just dont see the point of getting an SSD instead of an M.2, i would get less space for more money. Only reason im reluctant about the m.2 drives is the heat issues i have seen in the Samsung 950 and the Plextor M6e. I would not want to put in a drive in my laptop that overheats and comprimises my other parts by doing so. Been reading a lot about SSD's the last few days but there isnt a lot of info out on the m.2 drives (apart from the 950 which is loads of info about). So i dont know how heat is handeld in the other m.2 drives.
Sorry my OP was not clear, so how is preformance, heat and reliability for other m.2 drives like the Kingston HyperX predator, Sandisk X300, Z400s, Samsung Evo 850, Intel 535 and 2500 pro? Most of these drives are 100-120€ (with expection of the hyperX ofcourse) -
