    Hi,

4 days ago, I bought a Compal HEL80 in the Netherlands. Suddenly yesterday evening, I noticed a stuck pixel (it keeps shining red) on the lefthandside of my screen.

I read on internet that if you are lucky you should be able to fix that.

There should be a kind of 'film' which flashes colors rapidly and helps to reactive the stuck pixel, but I am wondering is this couldn't do any harm to all the other "good" pixels? Can anyone help me with this?

Any other solutions that you guys think of?

    Thanks!!

Only 'solution' i know of is to gently massage the dead pixel area, sometimes it can coax it back into life.

Otherwise, it might go on its own, or it won't.

Have you tried moving the screen? I have a funny pixel which shines green sometimes but it goes away if you alter the angle of the screen.

I had a dead pixel once, but I revived it by gently taping it.

Was that from the back side, or the front, or what? Just wondering... I've got a dead pixel in the center of my LCD, and it'd be nice to try something like that ;)

There are programs you can download which will flash colors constantly to your screen. I've never heard of them being dangerous. I have links to a couple at home, I'll try to remember to post them later. Not guaranteed to work, but worth the try, I think.

It was on the front of the screen. I noticed it was not lighting up like all the others, so I just tapped it lightly, and it came back on. I haven't had trouble with it since.

I believe the dead pixel policy on most notebooks is that the manufacturer will only replace the screen if there are at least 8 dead pixels, which is kind of ridiculous. Dead pixels bug me so much, thats why I'm glad I got mine fixed. Hope yours comes back to life.
