    Hello all,

I recently got a replacement E6400 from Dell because my previous laptop was overheating seriously. This new machine is flawless except for one defective pixel. By varying the desktop background color I have noticed that:

    - The pixel displays black correctly
    - The pixel displays red correctly
    - The pixel is black if it should display blue
    - The pixel is black if it should display green
    - The pixel is red if it should display white

This leads me to believe that the green and blue sub-pixels are defective. From what I read on the Internet, those sub-pixels might be dead, and not repairable, or just stuck and therefore repairable with a bit of creativity. Is there a way to distinguish between the two possibilities?

    Thanks in advance!

Run a hot pixel fixer or try the q-tip tapping fix , but this can cause more bad pixels , makes it easier to exchange then.

I will try that if it's a stuck pixel, but dead pixels are not repairable. I wanted to know whether it is stuck or dead before I attempt anything.

Try lightly pushing it until you see colors around the pressure point then release. No thats not to hard.

    "Jscreenfix" google and try that.

If not its 1 pixel.... unless its smackdab in the center of your monitor why worry?

Thanks for the suggestions. I already know of these "fixes", but first I want to know whether it's worth it to try to fix.

And I don't think I will ask for a replacement screen (if Dell would do it is unknown) even if I can't fix it.
