I just got a Studio 1535 and the screen hinges give about 1" of travel when the screen is between around 60-120 degrees. Is this normal? Should I RMA it?

It is normal for a laptop lid to sway a bit when flicked with your finger or pushed slightly at such angles, however it should return to it's original position. Nor should it travel too much from it's original position. One inch in your case is quite a bit; mine moves only about half a centimeter when I gently apply pressure.

Personally speaking, I would return it if the loose hinge disrupted my work; ie, a slightly vibrating table makes the screen move while I am working (or playing! :p). If you have experience with laptops and taking them apart, you could also try fixing it yourself.
