I was wondering what would be needed to upgrade my CPU in my Dell. I've read I would need a new motherboard in order to get an Intel i7, but I don't want to go that high. So what would I need to do in order to get an i3 or i5?

What is in it now? An i-anything will need the same socket, so if that's the reason, you're limited to a Core2.

There is no cheap way to get an i7 CPU if your notebook supports C2D. Why do you even want to upgrade your CPU?
