Usually when I leave my desktop running overnight, I just turn off the monitor. However, I've yet to find a power switch for the monitor on my laptop. Is doing this even possible? Thanks in advance.

There should be a FN command, depending on the notebook.

For mines, F5 and F6 are brightness up and down, and F7 is to turn the LCD off.

I'd suggest you modify your Power Schemes...set all your schemes to turn the monitor off after a certain period of inactivity.

I have options for sleep and hibernate. But going into the power settings and adjusting those did help. Once I closed the laptop, the monitor turned off and the computer stayed on. But I'll have to check for the FN key to see if there's one to control the LCD. Thanks guys.

Or just close the lid? Usually it switches the screen off. If it goes in to standby /hibernation you need to change your power settings.

I was going to say the exact same thing as BaNZ.

Yes you can, right click on desktop, go to properties, Screen Savers, Power, and then turn all the settings to NEVER, except the "Turn Monitor Off One", which you could set to 5 minutes or so.
