I've been having problems with the cable connection of my display. I have repeatedly reseated and re taped the cable that connects to the back of the monitor, but nothing holds, no matter how much tape I use or which pattern I put the tape on. I went to the local computer shop, and he suggested just super gluing the cable in... I had thought of this but was hesitant, because I didn't want to gunk up the connection points. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the idea of using super glue. I will move this thread if this is the wrong place, but didn't know where else to put it.

If any glue gets between the cable and the contacts on the motherboard, you can kiss your computer goodbye.

I would use something like 'shoe goo' over super glue, its a little more flexible and is still removable.

You could be sneaky and use neodymium magnets wrapped in electrical tape to pin it either side.

Hot glue gun is the way to go, I use it for all my soldering projects, it holds but its flexible, in a worst case you can heat it up and remove it.

Have you considered...replacing the LVDS cable...? Maybe a more permanent solution than gluing it..
