don't know right now, would have to look up. i just know for the same price you can get an intel 160gb. more storage, and a guarantee for good performance.

Read: 230MB/s • Write: 180MB/s • Cache: 64MB • Connector: SATA II • NAND type: MLC • Controller: Toshiba • One year warranty

Interestingly, I was considering one of the newer Kingston SSDs anyway before this opportunity came along. The Super Talent is a rebranded Toshiba that comes pre-installed with some Fujitsu notebooks or tablet PCs. One guy wanted an uber-huge HHD and was offering to sell his SSD after he swapped it out. For the price he's asking, I'd rather just pick up a new Kingston or maybe OCZ Agility for a few bucks more.

you really better off without a toshiba controller... the performance is average... an intel or indilix controller would be better... Also i would stay away from super talent... i know of a person who has a hell of a lot of trouble with these super talent SSDs...

After the last post, I've still been looking around at Super Talent SSDs. The GX models look pretty good, but unfortunately the DX is a different model that I can't get much information on.

Are we sure there is only one Toshiba controller? And are we sure that it is in all of the Super Talent drives?

    cf. http://www.supertalent.com/products/ssd_category_detail.php?type=UltraDrive

http://hothardware.com/News/Super-Talent-Launches-CoBranded-Toshiba-SSDs/ where only the DX line is co-produced with Toshiba.

Are we sure that the Kingstons are the same Toshiba controller as the DX line?

This post (scroll down to the highlighted sections) would seem to indicate that the Super Talents are a version of Indilinx: http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache...n+controller+Toshiba&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

What kind of problems? Do you remember where you read about them here at NBR?

    Thanks....

I've read reviews on Super Talent SSD's, with all of them saying positive things about them. And actually most of the ones I've seen (SATA) have Indilinx controllers. Super Talent's OEM manufacturer is Samsung after all, so they can't be as bad of a drive as sean is making them out to be.

Every SSD on the consumer market has certain issues, even Intel. Super Talent has several lines, so you can't generalize their Jmicron ones with their Samsung, Indilinx and Toshiba ones.

So, is the DX line, the one co-produced with Toshiba, an Indilinx one? I can't seem to find out. Here's the main page: http://www.supertalent.com/products/ssd_category_detail.php?type=UltraDrive

Here's the announcement of the DX line http://hothardware.com/News/Super-Talent-Launches-CoBranded-Toshiba-SSDs/ Note not a word of TRIM, either.

Perhaps someone can tell from the specs which controller it has?

    Thanks.

Definately a tosh controller. And the numbers look decent.

Okay, so is a Toshiba controller built like an Indilinx or a JMicron or "other"?

    Thanks.

FYI, the DX ver. is Toshiba controller and the GX ver. is Indilinx.

    Thanks.

Question: Is the Toshiba controller a version of JMicron? Or a different beast altogether?

From some benchmarks in the Lenovo forum, the Toshiba is better than the Jmicrons (different) and almost on par with the Samsungs. It's decent - not bad but not that great.
