Hi,
I am just wondering about the CPU usage (displayed on the windows task manager).
When I run superpi, my CPU useage is only at 50-51%. I thought it would be 100%.
Is that normal?
Thanks!

I think it would be a result of your dual core processor, I know that is how it worked for old P4's with hyper threading, not sure about dual core though. I have the same thing happen actually.

It's normal. SuperPI is not multithreaded, so it will only utilize one of the cores of your processor.

I kind of figured it would be because of the dual cores.
Thanks for your replies! -
does this mean to get a accurate time you would cut the time shown in half?

I would recommend using 3DMark06's CPU Test to get an accurate score to compare with others.
3DMark06 is multi-threaded, so its more reliable as a benchmark nowadays with dual core systems and all. -
Except it measures.... 3d performance, not raw CPU performance.

I thought the free version doesn't include the CPU test only. Isn't that only for the purchased version?

isn't the CPU test just software-based 3d rendering? That's likely to give quite different results from superpi (although no more or less accurate. Both are synthetic and basically useless benchmarks)
