To keep it short I need both. Which laptops (old models and new) have both these ports.

I would like to output at high quality to a new HD tv without making older sets obsilite overnight. Something I thought was reasonable, yet has not been thought of my most laptop designers I think.

    Any help appreciated, Thanks :)

Pretty sure it is more likely to find HDMI+VGA, but I'm also pretty sure you can convert VGA to SVid pretty cheaply/easily, provided you set your output settings correctly. Have you concidered that option?

Do youneed both simultaneously? HDMI is really the replacement for S-Video, so you won't find both on a computer.

I definitely do want both simultainiously. But I would be interested to hear more about transmitting VGA to s-video if anyone could oblige with a link or explanation :)

You just need a little converter box (none of that cable only crap they work for desktop video cards, but not really for laptops). Plenty on eBay. Here is an example, there may or may not be a cheaper/better alternative.

I would second the opinion of getting a converter or cable that goes from one of the options (be it hdmi, dvi, vga) to s-video. You'll probably save yourself time/money and more likely to get the laptop you want because you won't be limiting yourself. Plenty of 15 and 17 inch laptops with dedicated cards have some combo of dvi/hdmi/vga so you'll give yourself more options and a better buy.
