Got the acer c720 chromebook (typing on it right now)

    Nice little machine, crappy screen.

HP chromebook 11 also has a 11.6 screen with exact same resolution.

HP's IPS and has beautiful color and black levels, sharper and i hear is easier on the eyes for longer sessions...

Is it possible to take the screen from the HP and swap it into the Acer?

And if so, any negative effects to expect? (less battery life, lag, etc)

    thanks a million in advance!

Potentially possible to do, depending on the type of connector used internally for the displays.

Absolutely not recommended to do. It may not work at all, it may require you do so something as advanced as re-soldering a connector (depending on the display cable length, angle, configuration, routing path through the laptop chassis, etc). There is a high chance of damaging a component, because you're talking about working with very thin / fine cables and connector pins. The panels may nto fit correctly, due to thickness and/or border size. And you're completely trashing warranties on both laptops... so if anything goes wrong with those laptops now or in the future, you will be on the hook for repair / replacement costs.

An HP Chromebook 11 only costs $280. You're going to be much better off just selling (or returning) your current Acer C720, and getting a new HP Chromebook 11 with its IPS screen.

As Kent noted nothing can just be swap as there can be different connectors and wired differently. So short answer is no to changing from Acer to HP unless the parts are interchangeable and being Acer and HP wants their own money most likely you won't get that option and aftermarkets are the only way to go unless there is no interchange parts number.

Thanks kent1146 and stormjumper for your advice.

I guess what i was thinking of doing was waiting for the hp's screen to be available from a repair site. But my thoughts on the different connector types were the same as yours, but now that i heard it from someone else, its more grounded in reality

    Thanks again.

Always been a fan of the helpful people on this site for years, glad to see nothing has changed in that respect.
