So I'm about to pick up an HP 6930P Elitebook because it seems to be one of those deals that you simply can't pass up on. It has a T9400 and realistically, it's a bit more than I really need from a mobile laptop and figured it'd be better off in my Asus G50VT-X5 and I'll swap the P7450 from the Asus into the HP 6930P.
- I'm assuming this shouldn't be a problem, but just wanted to double check with you guys in case there's something I might be missing?
- Also, I figure I might be able to get slightly better battery life with the P7450 in the HP, compared to the T9400?
- Generally speaking, when playing the most demanding games on the Asus G50VT-X5, what is it's weakest link? The CPU or GPU?

1)
2)yes, better battery.
3)GPU is the weakest. -
Assuming the Elitebook has a PM/GM45 chipset (pretty sure it does), then it should work just fine unless BIOS support is locked out, in which case only trying it will tell. Same goes for the Asus. I assume the CPU is currently more of a bottleneck than the graphics card on the Asus as well...which GPU is it?
-
Asus G50VT-X5 = P7450 / Nvidia 9800M GS / PM45
HP 6930P = T9400 / GMA 4500MHD / GM45
wondering if maybe HP locked out the P7450 in BIOS since they only offered: P8400, P8600, T9400, T9600
