    Hello all.

I have an HP DV6TQE with a Sandy Bridge 2630QM and Radeon 6770. I've been having some odd issues when switching graphics.

There's something really wrong with how the machine/Win7 is handling this ability to switch between GPUs.

Setup: Primary account (Admin), Secondary account (User only)
Result: CCC doesn't work, and error messages continue to pop up

I switched the secondary account to admin, and it still doesn't allow you to switch between GPUs. Here's the really weird thing. When you have both accounts active, you can have the primary account running on the 6770 and the user account defaults to the IGP3000 when you switch over.

Above is my post in another discussion. What I really want to know is whether or not the presence of switchable graphics allows you to use Quicksync built into the IGP? Or are we still locked out like the desktops are with P67 chipsets?

I doubt that User account has anything to do with switchable graphics - this is pure system resource performance than anything else.

Last I heard some Lucid Software is in the work to address this issue.

    cheers ...

yes quicksync is available for those with switchable gfx, it was not available for those with the P chipset

I would simply format the pc and start from scratch

    FYI quicksync estimates from Sandra

    0.335MB/s i3-2310m software
    4.3xxMB/s i3-2310m hardware
    1.2xxMB/s i7-2600k @ 4.4Ghz software/hardware (P67)
    0.7xxMB/s i7-2720qm software
    4.8xxMB/s i7-2720qm hardware

    MrMM & ewitte12 - much appreciated info.

I don't think that it is resource related, even when the admin account is logged off and the user account is the only one logged in CCC still will not work and continue to pop up failure messages. With the user account set to admin and the only one logged in, you get the same issue, just different prompts.

Yes, you can have many different accounts. I have an admin and a user account that I toggle between to maintain different security levels and so that I have a stable environment for serious work. I keep common files in the public user profile of Win7 so that I don't have to duplicate files and have access to them from multiple profiles.

So, here's something weird. An update was downloaded, and now CCC works on the other admin account. And switchable graphics only works on one account at a time. Typically, the first account that it is enabled in. It now appears as though switchable graphics doesn't function for multiple accounts that are logged in at the same time.

Well . . . windows update installed an upadate and I can report that video switching and the CCC app works on multiple user accounts, but they HAVE to be admins. Standard users will not be able to do video switching. In fact, standard users always default to IGP 3000.

Folks, I have to update that I've solved all graphic switching issues that I've been having. I performed a Minimized Recovery which is basically a clean install and it fixed everything. The image that HP had from the get go was simply very, very buggy.
