I have a Synaptics touchpad running on a Fujitsu siemens amilo m7405. I've never been happy with the touch pad which acts when I am typing. I've tried adjusting the touch sensitivity but even this doesn't solve the problem. My other laptop from work has a check box on it's touchpad control software to prevent the touchpad activating while typing. It allows me to set the delay between stopping typing and using the touchpad.

Does such a facility exist for the amilo or is there a generic driver that would work?

I presume that you have got the most recent Synaptics driver.

Have you found the Palm Check function? Go to the touch pad properties, click on the Device Settings tab and then press the Settings button. A big list of options is available and Palm check is under Sensitivity. I've got it set to the far right.

I find the Synaptics driver for my S96J very useful, it has many features and functions including a Palm Check feature with adjustable sensitivity to prevent accident movement while typing.

But best of all, I have a touchpad on/off button. <3

just push the button to disable it, then push it again when you're ready to use it again, it works instantly on mine. it's right above it.

Thanks for the quick response but can you elaborate. Which button and where?
