You can revert to an older BIOS version by downloading it from Toshiba's website and running it just like any "routine" BIOS flash.

Why would you want to change your hard drive settings in BIOS?

If you have Windows installed as IDE mode and you change to AHCI, Windows will not boot up, unless you are doing it for SSD and you do the registry change.

Flashing the BIOS in a notebook has an inherent risk; if things go awry, there's no way to fix the computer. However, I've done it on Toshiba, HP, Dell, IBM, and Sony laptops without a problem.

It's been a long time since I've heard about a user wanting to change the BIOS shadow setting. Can you elaborate on your goals?
