I've looking around for a new laptop and saw a Tosiba with a core duo T2050, which is running at 1.6Ghz and has a Fsb of 533.
Is it worth saving about $100 over a T2300?
Do you think there would be a big difference in performance?
    Thanks.

T2050? Do you mean T2500? If so they run at 2.0GHz, and its the T2300 that runs at 1.66Ghz. If you can get the T2500 for only $100 more then it's probably worth it.

Oh and the FSB on them is 667.

i've been wanting to ask the same question myself about the T2*50, but in here (australia) the Qosmio uses a core duo T2550 processor clocked at 2.0GHz, my guess (and my guess only, that i'm not sure of) is that the T2550 could be a T2600 clocked at a lower speed to reduce heat  .... or it could just be a typo???

    No, I mean T2050.
There is no info on the intel site on this processor, but like I said it's a dual core running at 1.6ghz and with a fsb of 533. Strange since I was under the impression that all core duos fsb was set to 667.

Yes the core duo support 667mhz FSB, BUT the other factor is the chipset (motherboard) and the memory itself, that can create bottleneck

Wobble987, I don't think it has anything to do the chipset and memory, as these are identical to other notebooks running the T2300.
This processor seems to have been designed with the lower clock speed and fsb, but there is so little info out on the t2050 it's hard to say.

i belive that the t2050 doesn't support the 667 mhz ram. to be honest, this is a negligible difference. as an averager user, you will see little difference between 533 and 667,

Just an update to this thread, someone at another forum asked a similar question, and this is the response he got.

If I understand right, this guys is basicly saying that the t2050 is a t23300 that somehow came up short on the Fsb.
Sort of like Intel's retarted kids.

I don't think so. HP and Toshiba have a few models that are built around t2050 and they can do that only if they have a reliable supply of them. So the guy is wrong, this is simply the cost cutting move on Intel part.

Its obviously just an ultra low verson of the core duo, to likley save as much power as possible.
