Fujitsu-Siemens is selling the AMILO Pro V3205 in Germany in two configurations, which, as far as I could see, only differ in the bundled processor. Memory, HD, DVD drive, warranty... everything else is the same.
1) Intel Core Solo Prozessor T1300 (1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
Full spec: http://www.eshop2.de/e-base4-Comp/Comp_1/PDF/2006-06_VFY-APED320563E1DE.pdf
2) Intel Core Duo Prozessor T2050 (1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
Full spec: http://www.eshop2.de/e-base4-Comp/Comp_1/PDF/2006-07_VFY-APED320564E1DE.pdf
(Note: specs are in German, but anyone can easily read the stuff that matters.)
The only other difference in the specs concerns some installed software: T1300 comes with Norton Ghost 2003 whereas T2050 gets Norton Internet Security and Toshiba Bluetooth Stack (?). Both machines comes with Win XP Pro.
Well, the Core Duo T2050 should be better than Core Solo T1300, so you guess the T1300 spec is cheaper, right?
But thats not the case. At least when it comes to the suggested prices (for Germany).
1) 1.129,00
2) 999,00
Can anyone explain this?
Its hard to find these machines on the market now, but the prices have been more or less the same for both in the stores, maybe the T1300 being a little cheaper.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy a new computer with a single core CPU. Dual core is much more responsive in normal use because of the ability to undertake two tasks at the same time, even if you do not need the extra power most of the time.
So why the lower price for dual core? Maybe the brochures reflect the prices at the time they were prepared. Examination of the PDF file properties reveals that the T1300 brochure was prepared on 30 May 2006 while the T2050 brochure was prepared on 30 June 2006. I have distant recollection of Intel dropping its prices in June. What matters is the current price for the computers.

The dual core is slower. I would personally go for the dual core. If you want to game, go for the Core Solo T1300, but for anything else, get the Core Duo T2050. If you are into upgrading, you should go for the Core Solo because you will have many more upgrade options.

I'm definitely going for the T2050, no doubt!
As I said, street prices are a different story. The prices have been more or less the same for both machines at the shops, with the T1300 model being sometimes around 50-100 EUR cheaper. If you're lucky, you can still find some shops selling the V3205 with T2050 for about 850-900 EUR, but the T1300 is hard to find now.
I just found it weird that FSC would suggest a 130 EUR cheaper price for the T2050 model. I see that the specs were prepared with a difference of a month, but still... if you go to the FSC online shopping in Germany now you will see these very same prices...
Strange, isn't it?
T2050 better and cheaper than T1300?
