    Hello everybody,

Is there a big difference between the Core Duo T2050 and the Core Duo T2300E,
one is a 533mhz and the other 667 mhz,

I intend to have 553 mhz ram memory, will I notice a big difference in performance between these two ?

    Thanks all :)

Not really, there is minimal performance between 533 and 667. Go with the T2050 if your strapped for cash. If not, the T2300E is a good upgrade.

The 2050 doesn't have Virtualization technology (which I believe is used in things like dual booting). The 2050 has a lower clock speed. The 2050 has a 533 FSB. And it's only about $30 or so to upgrade isn't it? Worth every penny in my opinion.

*edit* Forgot, the 2003 E doesn't have virtualization either. But I'd still go with the 2300E over the 2050 anyday.

It's also not used in dual booting. It's used in things like the Xen software. Google around a bit, it's really neat ;) But dual booting can be accomplished with any hardware, essentially (possibly not on your old 8086 ;))

What sort of tasks are you going to be running with this notebook? Also if you could post the price differences, that would be helpful. The T2050 should be fast enough for anyone.

Any modern CPU can do that, so get the base one.

I mentioned over in the Asus forum a week or two ago that the V6J is being reissued with the T2050 CPU as opposed to the T2400, as well as a HDD downgrade from 120GB to 100GB. This drops the price from ~$2900 AUD to ~$2000 AUD.

If I'm not going to see a huge performance hit, this suddenly becomes very tempting. :)
