Why do you want to upgrade your CPU?

I recommend that you consider a Ram and HDD upgrade before upgrading the CPU.

helps to know exactly what laptop you have and what drive you have now. Listing your complete system spec's would greatly help in getting any info on upgrades, as well as stating what you use your laptop for or what you expect from it.

    welcome to the forum.

It depends what you want to do with your laptop.

If you are looking for smoother operations/faster boot times/faster loading programs then a upgrade to a faster HDD as well as a Ram upgrade will be your best bet.

IF you do heavy duty video encoding/rendering/photoshop/number crunching/2d CAD then you want a "Beefy" CPU as well has a HDD/ram upgrade.

ALso, as goofball mentioned, please list the specifaction of your laptop.

Look under the Computer information/Benchmarking section in the Best free software for windows(Use CPU-Z/Everest/PC wizard)

Also make sure you list your laptop model.

Unfortunately, that info does not provide much.
Use CPU-Z and provide the info on the mainboard tab.
