T2250: 2MB cache/1.73GHz/533Mhz FSB (Core Duo I believe)
T5250: 2MB cache/1.5GHz/667Mhz FSB (Core 2 Duo I believe)
Yes I read the sticky and the CPU guide but these two werent listed. From what I gathered, they are approximately equal (though I would suspect 5250 is superior seeing as how its a higher number).
Seriously doubt there is going to be any noticeable difference in performance but I'm just confused at why the clock speed would drop in a newer model, does the equally small increase in FSB equate/surpass the difference?
Just for the reference, I had the 2250 on my inspiron 6400 and im getting the t5250 on my new inspiron 1520 (the old one sort of broke). I wouldve got the T7300 but it wasnt available for Canada.

The clock speed is lower because it's a budget processor, whereas the Core Duo is higher up in the lineup. The Core Duo has a higher multiplier and lower FSB, so it will probably be slightly faster in CPU intensive activities, but slightly worse for things like powering an Integrated Graphics solution. Overall your experience on the two processors will be very similar.

No Lithus, the T5250 is listed but you must've forgotten the T2250.

The C2D should compare to the CD because it is more efficient with it's clocks. If you have PC5300/5400 RAM a little boost there. And C2D is 64bit. So yea minimal improvement if at all real world.

If the price is the same get the T5250. If the T5250 is more expensive get the T2250. Performance will be around the same, no noticeable difference but the T5250 has 64 bit which is a tad more futureproof.

I recall discussion in the Samsung R20 thread comparing the T2250 and T5300 (1.66GHz) CPUs. User reports and tests indicated very little overall performance difference.
I would therefore expect the T2250 to out-perform the T5250. The T5250 will run a 64-bit operating system. If you don't want that capability then the T2250 provides much better value.
