    Hello,

First of all - I am sorry for all language mistakes I have done. English is not my first language.
I signed up on this forum, because I found out it's very useful for me before. Unfortunately this time, I have no answer to my problem. I found this topic, but it gave me more even more confuse:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...tel-mobile-processor-compatibility-guide.html

So... I have old notebook, that I want to give my parents. They will search internet, write e-mails etc. This notebook is Acer 3680.

    1. On Windows XP settings I checked what chipset is inside. It's Intel 943. I was happy, because I knew that I can change old celeron m 430 to CPU that I allready have - Intel T2370 (bus 533). I have also 2 x 1 GB of RAM (667) (now there are 2 x 512 MB).

    2. To be sure of haveing right chipset, I checked it just like there: Upgrading Acer Aspire 3680 Notebook’s Processor to Core 2 Duo | All About GADGET
    3. The sticker said it's MB.TEB06. So it's not 943 but 940. According to the link I gave before - http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...tel-mobile-processor-compatibility-guide.html
I can't use T2370, because of socket on MOBO (Socket M vs P).
    4. I searched on Google again and found few topics, where people changed CPU on MOBO like mine and chipset like mine.

    - Are guys sure, that I can't use T2370 on this Asus?
    - Is it possible, that this sticker is wrong? I mean - I checked drivers on Windows and chipsed was a little bit newer. Maybe I should open notebook to be 100% sure?
    - Is it possible to add to this notebook 32 GB SSD? If I'm correct, there is SATA, so there wouldn't be full speed of SSD, but still better than 5400 RPM HDD?

If you have 940, you can safely upgrade to T1350, T2370 is a P socket cpu and forget about it, you can upgrade to a SSD 64GB will be suitable, you won't be able to achieve any SATA II or SATA III speeds but still be much faster than HDD.

So T1350 is the fastest option for 940 chipset, yes? Is it worth to buy T1350 for 14$? This is only CPU of that type I found nearly me. It's slightly faster than celeron M430 and have 2MB cache instead of 1 MB. I don't think it give better performance, tho :(
I think much better solution is to buy MOBO with 943 chipset, and put there CPU I allready have T2370. What do you think?

BTW, can I use this 2 GB RAM 667 Mhz?

If you want to replace the Motherboard with 943, you can go up to Core 2 duo CPU, you can not use T2370 as it is a Socket P. Yes you can use the 2GB RAM.

Ok, I have another question. I found broken Acer notebook from 2011 (Display is broken). There is Core 2 Duo, good HDD, I can even upgrade to 4 GB. Is it possible to change only display from my old Acer to this broken one? They are both 15,4 "

Which notebook is it? normally they are inter changeable but you need to make sure the connector pins are of same, 30 Pin for 3680, you have to check the other notebook.

Should be fine as long as it isnt a Dell - all the 15.4's among acers should be interchangeable.
