I have a Compaq a900 with a T2390 processor and 965 chipset. Thanks to the forum, it appears that I could pop in a T7500 without many worries and Passmark shows the T7500 to be about 30% faster -

The question is: Is it worth it?

    Thanks

Depends on the cost, and what you do with your machine. If you're not putting more than 60-80% load on your cores at most times, you'll probably not notice a huge amount of difference.

I've got 4 gigs, extra memory support, and a shot at a T7500 for peanuts. I guess I want to know what 30% improvement will look like?

FraidyMan. What kind of programs do you run on your computer? Games? What games? What GPU?

I don't think you will notice much of a difference.

But if you do decide to do it, make sure you apply thermal paste properly, and make sure ZIF lock is locked; you don't want to have to open up your laptop again.

Depends on the price you can get in this T7500 and if you really needs a new cpu to match your software, so i agree with Judicatos thougts.
