    Hey all-

I'm looking for some good advice here. I currently have a Fujitsu T4210 Tablet (12.1") that I've had for about 4 years. It's served me well through vet school, but the battery life sucks (about 30 mins), the screen is horrible (all tablet screens are meant for writing and thus suffer from poor resolution), and it's a little slow for me. And frankly, I have no need for a tablet anymore now that I'm done with school.

The good things about it is that it runs great on XP, it's by far the most STABLE computer I have ever owned in my life, and Fujitsu support is second to none.

Basic specs: Intel T2400 Dual Core CPU, 2 GB RAM (667 mhz)

I have recently been bitten by the upgradeitis bug and have been looking at some of the Lenovo deals (specifically this one). It's got a high res 14.1" display, 4 GB RAM, and a T6400 C2D processor.

    Intel specs are here:
    T2400
    T6400

Anyway, I'd hate to fix something that's not broken. I really want a better screen, a bigger screen (14" is perfect for me), better battery life, a faster notebook, and a good deal ($550 is awesome for that Lenovo).

Looking at the CPU specs, besides the 6400 being a C2D, the specs are quite close. Does anyone know if I would notice a significant increase in speed with the Lenovo over my current tablet?

I know the T6400 is only Centrino and not Centrino 2, so maybe I wouldn't see a huge increase in battery life. Should I save up for a Centrino 2? What do you all think?

Depending on what you're doing, you may or may not see a huge jump in performance.

You will see pretty big gains in batter life, though. The original Core Duos seem to have an insanely high idle power draw; I have a T2300-based machine that pulls something like 20W to 25W at idle. The T6400 and the Y430 might not be part of the Centrino 2 platform, but the former is still a Penryn processor and should be quite conservative with regards to power.

The core duo's are about 30% slower per MHz clock speed than core 2 duo's
So your 1.83Ghz core duo is bout the same speed as a 1.5Ghz core 2 duo

The T6400 will have a nice performance increase over your core duo processor.
Its like comparing 2004 technology with 2008 technology

Well, I went with the Lenovo. Found an awesome deal on Ebay for the model I was looking for. 14" LED backlit display, T6400 C2D, 4 gb DDR3 RAM, brand new, all for $520 total. I'm a happy camper :)
