They should be pretty evely matched, the T2450 might have a slight edge in power, but generally pretty even.

The T5450 has 64 bit support, if that makes any difference.

If they're the same price... hard to say. If the Core 2 Duo is more expensive I'd take the Core Duo T2450.

I would say the 2450 would be faster. Even tho it's got less FSB, the cache is the same, the core is almost the same, and it's got quite a bit more clockspeed.

T5450 is intended for Santa Rosa platform, and T2450 is for Napa. That means the first uses 965PM(GM) chipset and the 2-nd - 945.

In that context T5450 should be preferable, although they may be equal as a raw processor speed. T5450 is Merom and T2450 is Yonah, which makes a difference.

The other fact to consider is the price. T2450 itself is around $60 cheaper. So is the 945 chipset compared to 965. So it depends mostly what these processors should be combined with (for example new generation video cards, such as 8600GT can be found only with 965PM). and what is most important - the price factor or the advantages of Santa Rosa platform.

    I bought 6 months ago FSC Amilo T2450 (please don't lough) :D
It was the cheapest machine available with deasent computing power and that's what i need above all. At the time amilo costed 699€ in Finland which is pretty deasent. At the time T5450 wasn't sold and next comparative model was over 200€ pricier here in Finland.

The heat is a problem and so is battery life with Amilo's lousy battery. But that's a fact still with every power processor. If you want nice, cool laptop it's like walking a dead man, nothing works unless you install Linux OS. :D
