    I own a IBM T42 model number 2373-8TB.
I am currently trying to upgrade as much as possible.
    I have ordered 2 x 100GB 7200 PATA HDD with a caddy, also a internal Wi-Fi card.
I have upgraded the RAM to 1GB(Which I think is the max) and fitted a DVD/RW.

I want to know what the biggest processor/or motherboard is that can be fitted to this machine and if there are any other upgrades I have missed.
    Many Thanks

Your T42 can take up to 2GB ram max.

Motherboard swaps rarely work but your laptop can take up to a 2.1GHz Pentium-M 765 for sure and probably a Pentium-M 780 which is 2.266GHz, but has a 533MHz FSB, which I am unsure if it's compatible.

The max memory for a T42 is 2GB. I owned one and had 1.5GB of memory in it.

I doubt the CPU upgrade is worth unless you have a specific need or a trust fund.
