I want to know if the new motherboard SU7300 (1,3 GHz) (core duo 2 with turbo boost on UL50vt) would be faster than my T5450 duo core (1,66 GHz).

Can a SU7300 perform tasks like RTS gaming (I have in mind Starcraft II)?

The SU7300 has 1mb more cache and it is 45nm so runs cooler.
It would be very close to your T5450 in performence.
But your T5450 should win (not by much).

If you can play starcraft II on the T5450 then you will be able to run it with the SU7300.

But the SU7300 is BGA, so you couldn't swap your CPU to a SU7300 without getting a whole new motherboard. Unless you like BGA soldering.

T5450 will beat the SU7300 slightly. With overclocking the SU7300 might be faster.

SU7300 should be able to beat T5470 and with ATI's built in Overclocking tool , it should be easy to overclock the CPU... but Mon , if your considering G51 according to your signature , get that especially if you want to play games... try getting the G51J version with core i7 GTX260M etc...

    I agree with that.

    Ok, back to topic. Hello!

Have you considered posting on the "What Notebook Should I Buy?" Forum?

But as far as performance goes, the SU7300 is better due to a larger FSB (this means faster data transfer), bigger L2 Cache and better battery savings.

My only other advice would be, if you can wait for the purchase a little longer, I suggest for Q1 2010, the Arrandale chips will come out, and this means:

    • C2D will be cheaper, my assumption is dirty cheap on the same areas were Arrandale will be
    • Arrandale should cost the same as current C2D and could offer a much better performance than the C2D they replace, both CPU and IGP alike, so you could just but an Arrandale
    • You could save for a while longer
    • You get more time to investigate the market and do the best buy

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you!
G51 is for sure a better choice for games but I'm not completly satisfied with its battery life (and I don't play games that often). Also, it's heavier and more expensive.
I'll wait two weeks before deciding ^^ (I've spent too much time on this forum since the last 5 days...)

Will Asus release notebooks with Arrandale (before february 2010)?

Hard to tell. We know that Jan 7 2010 is the launch of Arrandale, but little is known about what laptops and who are making them.

    Sorry.

I'm pretty sure he was joking (if you were serious). BGA soldering is almost impossible by hand unless you have the right tools and you are very experienced at microsoldering.

I was joking. But if you want to do it then get a BGA reworking station.

Or it may even be possible with a heat gun.
But you stand a good chance of burning the chip.

I have not seen a good guide, buy youtube has some good vids.

Have u considered the VAIO CW series? Comes with a P Series processor , GT 230M and 14 inch... should have great battery life too... not as good as a gaming laptop as the G51 but still more than good enough... otherwise wait for the new dual core arrandale...

If you can wait a month or two, my suggestion is get an Arrandale.
