Hi, does any one have information regarding the speed increase between these and their predecessors (T2300 and T2400). I know there are quite a few reviews of the T7200 and up, but they all have 4mb lvl2 cache, i was wondering if there were any reviews of the 2mb versions.

Their pretty much the same, except 64bit and slightly improved instructions. The merom and yonah are very very similar to begin with, except for the cache and 64bit instructions, so the differences are even less in the 2mb version of the merom.

For the same price i can get a 1.83 t2400 or a 1.66 T5500 - which one? I hear what you say but its slightly more complicated than that, since the core 2 duo has a more updated architecture featuring more pipelines, decoders.. etc etc ( http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2808&p=4) which is why i'd like a comparison.

I would get the T5500. It is newer. It has better power usage. It's 64 bit. You are not going to feel the loss of 0.2 ghz anyway - so make up for that with extra system RAM.

lol, guess i'll have to wait then.

Any updates on this?
