Well, I have the opportunity to upgrade the CPU in my Dell from a Merom 2-M T5670 (Basically a T7100 with no virtualization), to a P8600 Penryn Chip.

Now, assume that the cost will be minimal, would it be worth the time to upgrade it at all? I'd basically be ripping apart two laptops to swap the chips.

Also, would adding 800mhz ram vs 667mhz ram make any difference in the performance on a Santa Rosa Chipset?

The Santa Rosa platform can't take 1066MHz FSB Socket P processors, so the P8600 isn't going to work. The best things you can get for these machines are the T8300/T8500/T9300/T9500. Santa Rosa laptops won't run memory at 800MHz either, so using PC6400 will do nothing or slightly lower your memory timings (which is, for all practical purposes, the same as nothing).

Thanks for that. I forgot this was a 1066fsb chip. Ah there goes that dream.
