A simple question - would I see huge benefits from upgrading my lappy with T9400 CPU ? or I would notice only a mere 5-10% performance increase in games over my current T5800?

You will notice a big temp difference going from 65nm to 45nm (your new CPU will be cooler).

Also the 800mhz to 1066mhz FSB upgrade + 4mb extra cache will help.

And not to mention to extra 530mhz :D

    Depends on the price though.

haha what? I didn't expect this CPU to run cooler than T5800 :)
T9400 is the best CPU that would fit my N50 I think, so I might me considering purchasing this CPU in a year, when my warranty expires and T9400 becomes a bit more affordable :) thx for info guys

You should be able to use pretty much any socket P CPU.

So you could also upgrade to:
    T9900___6MB L2 3.06GHz 1066MHz 35W
    T9800___6MB L2 2.93GHz 1066MHz 35W
    T9600___6MB L2 2.80GHz 1066MHz 35W
    T9550___6MB L2 2.66GHz 1066MHz 35W
    P9700___6MB L2 2.8GHz 1066MHz 28W
    P9600___6MB L2 2.66GHz 1066MHz 25W
    P9500___6MB L2 2.53GHz 1066MHz 25W
    P8800___3MB L2 2.66GHz 1066MHz 25W
    P8700___3MB L2 2.53GHz 1066MHz 25W

Nobody mentioned that it depends on what you do...

If you play solitaire (the windows game), then no you won't notice a difference.

If you GPU limits games, then possibly not either.

You will only notice a positive performance increase if you max out your current CPU.
(And then depending on how you do it, you may notice it or not, but it will be there)

His GPU is rock solid... good enough for most games.. i would recommend a T9600 as it gives best performance for price... and then u'll have 800 MHz extra speed...

Would a Quad-Core CPU fit in my lappy's PM45 Cantiga socket P mainboard?

You chipset does support quad core CPUs.

But your BIOS may not be compatible.

Probably worth trying it (try it with your current BIOS, if that doesn't work then try updating your BIOS).
Some people have also modded their BIOS to add CPU support.
