I am planning to buy a T61 with integrated video. I would like to connect the DELL 24" monitor E248WFP Entry widescreen.

Will I be able to connect this monitor to my laptop using the VGA output from the laptop?

    Thanks

Yes you would. Although the VGA interface might make the output look slightly blurred. If you had DVI, you would get a much higher quality picture.

Even the NVidia discrete video card for T61 comes with the VGA, right? do you think, if I go with the discrete video, I will get a better output to the second monitor?

    Thanks for your input

you misunderstand. the issue is not the video card. the lowest POS video card can output just fine to an external monitor. the issue is the VGA connection. you remember what VGA stands for, right?

According to me to, VGA output Analog signal. is that right?

Please tell me the best way (with best video quality) to connect to an external monitor using T61 integrated video.

Regardless with what video card it has, if it only has a VGA out port, you will be bottlenecked by the bandwidth of the Analogue signal. DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI are Digital, and therefore have a much higher bandwidth and can therefore output much higher quality images.

If you can find a T61 with a DVI port, you will be safe.
