    Hi,

I recently dug up a high end t61 15.4". Everything seems to be in working order, except upon boot up, the screen is a red hue, and fades into a normal hue within a few seconds of loading. The display is fine on an external monitor. There is obviously something wrong, but before I go buy a new LCD, could this be the inverter? I pride myself on building desktops, but I am new to laptops. Also, while in an upgrade forum, is there any viable upgrade from a t7700 to make a noticeable gain?

    Thanks in advance,

    -ckemme

    Welcome to the forum!

Red/pink hue on cold boot is a dead giveaway for a failing backlight (CCFL). You'll need to replace the bulb - only attempt if you're very handy - or the entire screen.

Your machine will benefit from Middleton's BIOS (free), SSD or RAM upgrade far more than it will from maxing out the CPU.

    Good luck.
