My laptop has a VGA port and my TV has a DVI. So, I purchased a VGA cable and a DVI converter. Plugged them in. And it shows the display as Samsung on my laptop. But I can't get it to work on my TV. I turned it to the DVI channel but nothing will come up. I've googled solutions. But can't come up with anything.

    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Noah.

What kind of DVI converted did you get? If its just a cable adapter its not going to convert VGA (Analog) to DVI (Digital). I think this type of cable was mean to take the output from a video card's DVI-A with analog signal built in to a VGA monitor and not the other way around.

You need a convert box that transcodes the signal from analog to digital.

Your options are, buy an advance mini dock, buy a usb video card, or buy a converter box.
