T6600 (2.2GHz) or the P7450 (2.13GHz). For $50 bucks more, is the 7450 worth it? Why is the clock speed lower? I know is has a 3MB cache as opposed to a 2MB but what about the clock speed?

Are you looking at HP because this sounds like the decision I was trying to make. I ended up with an asus with the P7450.
The T6600 barley outbenches the P7450 the difference is not noticible but the P7450 does use 10 watts less power maximum (25 watt TDP versus the 35 Watt TDP). If getting minute out of your battery is important then the P7450, if you want to save money dont get it not really worth it except for battery life. -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The clock speed is most likely lower because the P7450 has a 25W TDP as opposed to the T6600's 35W TDP. In reality, though, unless you're always running your laptop at full speed, on battery, the lower TDP is unlikely to make a huge difference in anything.

T6600 - 800Mhz FSB (200Mhz Bus) 11x Multiplier = 2.20 Ghz
P7450 - 1066Mhz FSB (266Mhz Bus) 8x Multiplier = 2.13 Ghz
I agree though at idle to normal speeds they probably use the same amount of power. At a medium to heavy load the P7450 will save battery life though. My T9600 underclocks to the same 6x Multiplier the P7450 does and could get close to the same battery life on light use.
T6600 or P7450?
