Hi, is there a big night/day difference between these two CPUs if I don't do any gaming?

Even in gaming, there is little to no difference in performance, as the graphics card is the more commonly the limiting factor. Generally, though, it depends on what the task is. The T7200 will perform better under processor dependant tasks, such as video editing or encoding. If you want to finish the task quicker, then the T7200 is better for those types. Both will perform the same under other tasks that are not processor dependant, like surfing the Internet or word processing.

The main differences of the two processors are more on L2 cache, where the T5600 has 2 MB and the T7200 has 4 MB. Generally, however, clockspeed is more important than cache. Cache will help to a degree, but only in tasks which require movements of alot of data.

Both processors are very fast, and are more than enough for the average user. You need to decide what youtr main tasks are, and whether you will benefit from the extra speed of the T7200, in certain circumstances. You should also consider the price of the upgrade.

You might want to consider spending the extra money on RAM/ or a faster hard drive.

In performance, there is little to no difference between the two. In price, there is... ;)

Save yourself the $150 and upgrade the RAM to 2GB or the hard drive to 7200RPM.
