I am planning to buy a VAIO SZ notebook and Sony gives the option of picking either processor with no price difference.

Is one better than the other. The only difference I know of between the two is that the T7300 has 4mb of cache compared to the 2mb in the T7250.

    Thoughts anybody?

That's it as far as I know. Get 7300.

Get the T7300. Last time I checked the price difference was $0.

So the T7250 is 2GHz, but 2MB cache and 667MHz? Get the T7300

The only difference between the T7250 and the T7300 as you posted is the 2MB L2 vs. 4MB L2. Definitely get the T7300. Last time I check the T7500 was only $50 more, so that's not a bad price at all. Whether or not the upgrade is worth it is debatable, but if you are under your budget and can spend a bit more . . .

I have got the impression that the T7300 is being phased out (eg Zepto are no longer offering it).

Intel shows the T7250 is 800MHz FSB. Think of it as being the T7300 with half the cache disabled. Personally, I would take it because I think that more cache means more power leakage and worse battery life, but that's my individual preference.

Increased Performace vs Battery Life. Hmmm....unfortunately there arent any numbers to determine which one is the real winner.

    Oh well...thanks for the input.

The T7250 uses 34w of power vs the T7300 using 35w. Little difference

Since the Core 2 Duo processor turns of unused Cache and Cores it won't make a difference having more cache on power unless you actually use it ;)

That's the theory. I would love to see some test results to support the theory.
