trying to decide b/t a notebook customizable w/ one of these two processors, but is the T7500 worth the extra $$$?

but is it worth that much extra? i mean, i obviously know the better processor benchmark-wise, but will i see (visually observe) much better performance w/ the T7500 than the T7250 in real world apps?

I would say yes, but not because of the increased processing power (200 megahertz). The reason to upgrade would be because of the additional L2 cache. A while back, notebookreview.com had an article that talked about L2 cache, and it concluded that benchmarks didn't do increased cache justice, and that 4 megabytes was a sizable improvement over 2 megabytes. I would say that it is worth the extra 50 bucks, and that yes, you will notice it.

On the contrary, that $50 could be spent on a larger capacity or faster harddrive, which would speed up the system more than the l2 cache increase.

For $50 I would get T7500, CPU harder and more expensive than other upgrades. I do agree that HDD upgrade could show more improvement (depending on what it has and what you get, also RAM could be the same as HDD. But I would still start CPU for $50.

This probably won't help you too much because I have no experience with the T7250 but I went for the T7500 on my HP CTO. I went through the forum and saw that opinions were mixed -- most saying that there's not much difference between the 2.0 and 2.2 GHz but after reading about the 4MB L2 cache on the T7500, I was convinced I should go with that. I can upgrade the hard drive or RAM any time but the processor I'm stuck with, ya know?

I'm very pleased with the performance of the T7500 on my DV9700T, btw.

$50, yes, I think I would go for it, especially if you intend to use it for games or encoding or photoshop etc. Once it gets up to $100 more, maybe not. If it's more than $100 more I'd say not worth it.

I would say its woth around $75. You will see a pretty noticable increase in proformance definetly. But i would get it if possible.
