Hello all. I am looking at a new notebook and am curious as to what processor I should buy. I'm looking at either a T7100 1.80GHz 2MB cache or a T7300 2.0GHz 4MB cache. I am mostly going to be playing games like Medieval II: Total War, C&C 3, Guild Wars, BF2142 and maybe even Crysis.

Most of those games require a good GPU(like the 8600m GT or better). A higer cache will help in CPU intensive task like encoding/video and photo editing/number crunching/businessapps ect but a good amount or ram and a fast(5400rpm or 7200prm) helps too.

In Gaming the bottleneck(slow down/limiting factor) is usually the GPU espically if you play games on a notebook so you want a good video card.

Also what is the price difference. If its less the 50 or 75 USD i say go for it to "future proof yourself"

If it's under $75 just splurge on it. From the looks of it, you're already getting an expensive computer, so just make it the best you can unless you're getting a new notebook to replace this one in a year.

Go for the best, a faster processor will do wonders.

I'd go with the T7300. It is best to go with anything from 2.0 Ghz and above. 1.83 will not be as fast, obviously, but you will notice it will slow down in certain games.

In my opinion, the main difference between the T7100 and T7300 is the L2 Cache... 2MB vs 4MB.

Hands down, go with the 4MB cache one. The GHz difference is fairly negligible since 1.8 vs 2.0 isn't that big of a difference. Granted faster is better still. But I would say it is worth paying additional for that difference since it isn't incredibly more, money wise.
