    Hi

For general Windows performance will I notice much difference between these 2?

The difference between the two processors is that the T9300 enjoys a 300Mhz bump in frequency, an additional 2MB of cache, as well as a smaller SOI process, in this case, Intel's Penryn technology in 45nm flavor. Personally, very few people will be able to discern a difference of 300Mhz, as well as an extra 2MB of cache.

For a price difference of approximately $100 between the two procs, I would say stick with the T7500 if money is an issue, and you do not plan to overclock your processor.

However, if you do plan to OC, and you will be doing intensive computer activities, then the T9300 is well worth it. In my estimation, unless you are basing your buy decision purely off of PCMark scores, I would pass on the T9300.

no , not at all unless you do lots of Video decoding or Photoshop RAW manipulation.

dont waste your money on a current Penryn, get a Montevina Penryn , they are coming with a new platform and supporting DDR3.

So if you get that , it will definitely significantly beter than the current Penryns or Meroms, current PEnryns are also designed for Santa Rosa platform.

No probably not to answer your question, even though the T9300 is a lot more powerful.

T7500 is much cheapr not only 100 US cheaper then the T9300, actually the T8300 is about 100 us more than the T7500, so considering their power and price ratio, the T7500 or T8100 is a much better deal.

I even go down to the T7250 and with the money saved get a better GPU.

Every thing said by all above is correct! The T9300 is faster. But on most apps you will not notice. It does come down to price. If with the same system it was a $100 diff I would pay. Not that it would be needed or noticed I just would. I would not pay much more than $100 maybe $150. But I know it does not make a big difference and for most people it makes zero difference. Good luck.

thanks guys for your excellent responses.

the 2 machines I am choosing between (Tosh X200 219 and HP DV9870) I can get for the same price.

I'm tempted by the Tosh as it has a higher res screen despite only having a T7500. So it looks like the way to go.

    Agree?

    I suggest HP over Toshiba.

Yes a t9300 will be slot more powerful and cooler and quieter, but a T7500 will probably be fine for your needs.

In general, quality-wise, HP outclass Toshiba and as you said for general computer usage the T7500 is very decent performer btw.
